Sunday 3/1/09
I returned from Savannah, where I went with my Girl Scout Troop.
Friday, 2/27/09.
After we got to Savannah, we settled in our rooms. Then we went on a tour
We saw the Juliet Gordon Low Birthplace (founder of Girl Scouts' House). It was really cool. We did an activity that our troop selected. It is called "Come into my Parlor". There, we learned how to be "proper young Victorian ladies", learn games from the later 1800's (when Juliet lived), and learned several interesting facts. Waists back then had to be 17 inches!!! Take out a tape measure and see how big around that is. Not very big at all, is it?! Here are 2 stories that really show Juliet's personality. Juliet Low (nicknamed Daisy) moved to England with her multimillionaire husband. When driving in England, she would drive on the right side of the road and people would ask her "Why?" and she would reply "because I am an American. There we drive on the right side of the road. But in America, she would drive on the left side "because I live in England."She destroyed one-half of some one's house by accident, when she didn't break on time. Later that night, when she got home, she phoned her brother and he asked her "What did you tell them?" She said "I didn't tell them anything. I didn't want to interrupt their supper." "I thought, "She probably already interrupted their supper. Another thing that some people might not know is: Breakfast back then is called the same thing today, but what we call Lunch today, was called Supper back then. Our "Supper" was called Dinner then.
I have really enjoyed this trip and I think it has left a lot of great and fun memories. I had a wonderful experience.
I went to a restaurant where we had sheesh kebabs, mash potatoes, and more. The cool part was that we got to learn how to belly dance. We had to be in our rooms at 9:00 and in bed at 9:05 PM.We left early to return because of snow that was forecast and arrived after we got at least one inch of snow on the ground. Go to my friend Sri's blog and you can see some videos from when we went to Savannah. All you need to do is at the top of the page it says all the sites I've joined.
