Our Summer Vacation

This summer ('09) my family and I drove 5 hours from Switzerland to Paris. We took an elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower, climbed the 788 stairs to the top of Notre Dame and saw the gargoyles at the top, and saw some famous paintings in the Louvre and Musee d'Orsay. After spending 4 days in a hotel in Paris we drove for 2 hours to Normady where the American Soldiers landed during World War 2. We saw several cemetaries and musems about World War 2. The picture is a picture of us visiting one of the cemetaries. We spent a total of 3 nights and 2 full days in Normandy, France. I really enjoyed this vacation it challenged our french, expanded our learning, and I tried new foods such as Escargot (snails), Hard Boiled Eggs and Mayonaise, and Musles. Musles were gross(2 me) and snails were o.k. I liked dipping my bread in the garlic sause. But I LOVED the Eggs with Mayonaise!!

The big move.............

On Friday June 11th, my family and I moved to Geneva, Switzerland. Right now I am in the hotel which is an apartment, that we stay in until we get our house. We have looked at several different houses and we picked our top 3 and hope to move in, in a couple of weeks. My favorite one is thankfully the one that my parents like most too. It has 5 bedrooms. one for us and a guest bedroom. I am going to do some camps this summer including a music camp which is at someone's house. They have a pool and said that in the end of the day we will be able to swim in it. It has strange hours though; it starts at 9:30 or something in the morning and ends at 7:30 p.m.!! AND it's 7 days a week; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday!! Also, my favorite thing: my parent's are going to sign me up for horseback riding lessons!! :)

My Totally Awsome Trip to Savannah, Georgia!

Sunday 3/1/09

I returned from Savannah, where I went with my Girl Scout Troop.

Friday, 2/27/09.
After we got to Savannah, we settled in our rooms. Then we went on a tour

We saw the Juliet Gordon Low Birthplace (founder of Girl Scouts' House). It was really cool. We did an activity that our troop selected. It is called "Come into my Parlor". There, we learned how to be "proper young Victorian ladies", learn games from the later 1800's (when Juliet lived), and learned several interesting facts. Waists back then had to be 17 inches!!! Take out a tape measure and see how big around that is. Not very big at all, is it?! Here are 2 stories that really show Juliet's personality. Juliet Low (nicknamed Daisy) moved to England with her multimillionaire husband. When driving in England, she would drive on the right side of the road and people would ask her "Why?" and she would reply "because I am an American. There we drive on the right side of the road. But in America, she would drive on the left side "because I live in England."She destroyed one-half of some one's house by accident, when she didn't break on time. Later that night, when she got home, she phoned her brother and he asked her "What did you tell them?" She said "I didn't tell them anything. I didn't want to interrupt their supper." "I thought, "She probably already interrupted their supper. Another thing that some people might not know is: Breakfast back then is called the same thing today, but what we call Lunch today, was called Supper back then. Our "Supper" was called Dinner then.
I have really enjoyed this trip and I think it has left a lot of great and fun memories. I had a wonderful experience.

I went to a restaurant where we had sheesh kebabs, mash potatoes, and more. The cool part was that we got to learn how to belly dance. We had to be in our rooms at 9:00 and in bed at 9:05 PM.We left early to return because of snow that was forecast and arrived after we got at least one inch of snow on the ground. Go to my friend Sri's blog and you can see some videos from when we went to Savannah. All you need to do is at the top of the page it says all the sites I've joined. Click "Sri's Blog" and watch the videos!

Girl Scouts

Friday, February 20, 2009

My friends Mahlet and Greta walked home with me today. When we got to my house we had snack until the bike instructor, Robyn, came over. My other friend, Srijana came a little later. We took a little "pre-test" to see how much we knew about bicycle safety. Then, we discused the answers/laws. We learned a bunch of cool facts. Then we went to the dead-end part of my street to practice some things like looking over your shoulder before switching lanes, the right turning signal and the left turning signal. It was really fun. I can't wait until Sunday at 1:30 when we go on a big bike ride to use the skills we learned.
